Friends of Fogelberg III event raises $30K to fight cancer

By Joe Ed Coffman

The Friends of Fogelberg III Concert raised $30,000 to fight prostate cancer with Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center on July 26 in Amarillo Globe-News Center for Performing Arts.

After singer-songwriter, Dan Fogelberg, died in 2007 of prostate cancer, local musicians banded together to form Friends of Fogelberg, performing all Fogelberg music at bi-annual concerts. The concerts are dedicated to continuing “Dan’s Quest” to defeat prostate cancer.

As Dan said, “early detection” is key to beating this deadly men’s disease. In keeping with “Dan’s Quest,” Friends of Fogelberg and Harrington Cancer Center will host a free prostate-specific antigen blood test screening, along with a free breakfast and free gas card from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 22, 2012 at Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd.
